Field Geology Activity and other fieldworks

The Degree Course in Geological Sciences includes training activities in the field, including in particular the Field Geology Activity, at the end of the third year. The Field Geology Activity is held in an area characterized by geological situations of particular educational value. Third-year students are informed directly by the instructors about how to participate and the safety rules for field activities. Other fieldworks and field trips are organized as part of numerous courses. These are periods of one or more days, during which students have the opportunity to observe different geological realities in Tuscany (e.g., Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, Metalliferous Hills, Elba Island, etc.) and in other regions of Italy (e.g., Aeolian Islands, Eastern Alps, etc.). The instructors of the individual courses inform students about the programs of the off-site exercises, which vary from year to year.
